Pre-Revenue
A digital property that is built, live and already being found, but not earning yet. You buy the asset before a profit figure multiplies the price.
Pre-revenue describes a digital property with everything in place except the income. The name, the live site, the content, the search visibility and the crawler activity are all real and checkable. Nobody has switched the money on yet.
That missing switch is the whole opportunity. The market prices a website by multiplying its monthly profit, so no profit means no multiplier and no premium. The same property costs a fraction of what it will cost twelve months after it starts earning.
The advantages
The price is the asset, not the asset multiplied. A site earning $1,000 a month in profit sells for roughly $22,000 at a normal multiple. The same site before the money starts sells for a few thousand.
You decide what it becomes. A property that already earns comes with its subject, its audience and its money model set, and changing direction breaks what you paid for. A pre-revenue property has made no promises yet. Point it at your own products, your own services, your own brand. Buy it outright, or lease it and run the test first.
The slow years are done, and done by a professional. Any domain can sit in a drawer for three years. These were structured, written and optimized on purpose by someone who has done search for a living for more than twenty years, and built for the internet we have now, handing their data straight to AI systems in a form those systems can read and quote. You can buy time. You cannot buy twenty years of knowing what to build.
You are not in a bidding war. A listing with proven monthly profit draws a crowd, because a profit figure is the one thing every buyer knows how to value. Less competition on the way in is exactly why the price is where it is.
How to spot a strong one
Five things, none of which need a profit figure:
- People are already finding it. Impressions before clicks means Google is showing the pages for real questions and the site just is not winning the click yet. That is the cheapest problem in this business to fix, and it is already solved for you.
- The AI crawlers keep coming back. Bots cost money to run, so a crawler that returns week after week has decided the pages are worth the bandwidth.
- The name says what the thing is. Read it out loud to somebody who has never seen it. If they can tell you what the site is for, you are holding an asset.
- It transfers whole. Domain, content, code, data, analytics history and search presence all move with the sale.
- The category already pays. Other sites on the same subject are making money today, in an obvious way. You are early to this property, not early to the whole idea.
